The 1890 edition of Guangdong Province made Guangxu Yuanbao has seven coins and three cents, also known as "Guangdong 73 reverse edition". The engraver Alan Wayne made a trial casting for the model of the British Birmingham mint, with a mirror plate bottom and exquisite workmanship. It is the first work of modern Chinese silver coins.
由于此版币是我国近代“机制银币”的初始之作，对于怎样雕模铸制，相关负责人（张之洞）对雕刻师“艾伦•韦恩（英国人）”没有作具体要求，故此币正面上缘是英文省名，下缘是英文币值，而背面（龙纹）上缘则是汉文省名，下缘是汉字币重，刚好和以后所铸制的银圆相反。因而泉界学者将此种币称之为“番（反）版”银币。

张女士所藏的此币正面珠圈外缘上镌“KWANG-TUNG PROVINCE”十七英文字符，中译为“广东省”三字；珠圈内镌满汉文“光绪元宝”四字；珠圈外左右各分镌一“四瓣花星”纹饰；珠圈外下缘镌阿拉伯数字和英文币重“7 MACE AND 3 CANDAREENS”字样。
On the obverse of this coin, Ms. Zhang has 17 English characters "Kwang-tung service" on the outer edge of the bead circle, which translates into "Guangdong Province" in Chinese; inside the bead circle, there are four Chinese characters "Guangxu Yuanbao"; outside the bead circle, there are four petal flower stars on the left and right; outside the bead circle, there are Arabic numbers and English coins with 7 mace and 3 candareens on the lower edge.
背面上缘镌“广东省造”四字，中间镌一“蟠龙”纹；下缘镌“库平七钱三分”六字。此币铸造精美，龙鳞清晰，版底洁净，通体包浆自然，具有很高的收藏价值。

此币为我国新式机制银圆发行之第一种，因当时市场上充斥之各种银圆均重七钱二分，为使民间乐于接受起见，特将此币加重一分，发行之后，因其为本国自制，且铸作精细，图案美观，含银成色标准，使得民众乐于储存，以致市场上并不多见。
