The custom of burning incense has a long history in China. People usually incense their clothes for the sake of etiquette. More importantly, ancient literati and scholars like to burn a column of incense in the study where they read and write to create the artistic conception of "reading at night with tea fragrance". Therefore, as early as a long time ago, there were censers made of pottery, porcelain, copper, iron and tiles.
With the rapid development of copper casting industry in the late Yuan Dynasty and the early Ming Dynasty, the original censers of other materials were gradually replaced by copper censers. The Xuande period of Ming Dynasty was the peak stage of the production of copper censers. In the Qing Dynasty, like similar copper censers, the common people didn't have them in their homes. They were princes and nobles, temples and temples. As a kind of furnishing, sacrificial and ritual vessels, they had a high impact on the collection value.
